About

Our story

About AUDHD Australia.

AUDHD Australia is the national peak body for Australians living with co-occurring ADHD and Autism. We are an ACNC-registered charity providing evidence-based information, clinical guidance, policy advocacy and community infrastructure for the estimated 650,000 Australians with AuDHD — founded and governed entirely by people with lived experience.

We started as a group of late-diagnosed AuDHD adults in Melbourne who needed an organisation that spoke to both neurotypes at once. The group grew. The gap in services stayed the same. So we incorporated and built one.

Why we exist.

ADHD Australia exists. Autism Australia-equivalents exist. What didn’t exist — and what every AUDHD person kept asking for — was an organisation that took the intersection seriously. Not as a footnote. Not as a “co-occurring condition”. As the primary lens. That’s us.

Our job is to make sure the 650,000+ AUDHD Australians have education resources that describe their actual experience, community spaces where they don’t have to mask, advocacy that pushes for both-neurotype solutions, and clinicians who understand what the overlap really looks like.

Founded

2024, as a Victorian not-for-profit. Registered with the ACNC in early 2025. Fully community-governed since day one.

Funded

100% community donations and small grants. No corporate sponsors, no conditional funding, no strings.

Run

By AUDHD people. Lived experience is a hard requirement for every board seat and every staff role.

“We are not the people who study the community. We are the community.”
